Our belief is more focused on ‘how’ than that of ‘what’ while teaching inside and outside the classroom. The faculties of GRS follow these modern tools and techniques:
Smart Class
All the classrooms are equipped with audio-visual facilities so that students have access to the state-of-art learning technology.
Multiple Intelligence (MI)
In the beginning of school, each child is scientifically tested using the modern Dermatoglyphics Test and closely supervised during the year. Howard Gardner the father of MI has proved that each child has a unique blend of intelligences. Hence each child should be allowed to learn using his/her natural talent. The eight major intelligences propounded by Gardner are in practice in school from its inception.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
GRS is the first school in Nepal to make NLP as the integral part of its teaching learning process. The School Advisor Mr. Joseph B. Niraula is the first in Nepal to be certified as NLP trainer and the Principal of school is also a certified NLP coach. NLP uses sensory based teaching learning techniques to model excellence and help students make success a habit in all their endeavors.
Mind Mapping
We use a powerful graphics technique which provides a universal key to unlock the potential of the brain. It is used to generate, visualize, structure and classify ideas. It is an aid to studying and organizing information, solving problems, making decisions.
Project Based Learning (PBL)
PBL is an instructional approach designed to give students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through engaging projects set around challenges and problems they may face in the real world. We believe the project work helps to express their knowledge and ideas on the basis of experience as in the word of Jean Piaget: “Knowledge is a consequence of experience.”
Inquiry Based Learning (IBL)
GRS believes that learning can be far more explored through high level of questioning. The curious mind is always respected. This leads to problem solving skills. We encourage students to ask questions. Curious minds are developed through this approach. IBL approach develops the soft skills that are key for students’ success in the 21st century such as creative problem solving, critical thinking, logical thinking, team work and written and oral communication.
Problem Based Learning
This approach helps to prepare learners to solve problems in real life. Problem based learning is interesting, engaging and original. Problem-based approach actively creates better opportunities for integrating different subjects and themes as well as the systematicuse of pedagogically meaningful methods.
Phenomenon Based Learning
Phenomenon based learning keeps learners in center like most of other approaches practiced in GRS. This approach connects the students’ theoretical knowledge to the real world phenomenon where they live in. The philosophical base is that the phenomenal issues are enough for the students to explore knowledge.
Group (Team) Work
GRS prioritizes group discussion as one of the integral parts of teaching learning. Separate classes are managed in routine for group discussion. The classes are interactive. Emphasis is given to team work. Activities are given to groups of students who work as teams.
Reading Program
GRS wants its students to develop reading culture. Reading has many benefits among which vocabulary increase, language improvement, speech improvement, thinking level improvement are some. We believe a child has to read 40 books in a year to be promoted to the next grade, which a child if reads 30 minutes a day can finish. To develop GRS a reading school, we have implemented GRS Reading Program through the initiation of school library. The students read stipulated number of books and submit review which is evaluated through the library.
